How to refresh a simple spring wreath!
Spring is just around the corner, and I don’t know about you, but I am already looking forward to more sunshine, my garden and being outdoors more. One thing I am always looking to change up are the wreaths that I keep for my front door and patio doors. Sometimes I reuse wreaths from previous years, and sometimes I come across various wreaths at thrift stores or the dollar stores that could use a little sprucing up, and that is exactly what I wanted to share with you today! While rummaging through our Dollar General, and let me just say, this particular store has an amazing selection of home decor and crafting items!! Many of these decor items can easily be repurposed or a simple DIY project for not a lot of money….which is why it is incredibly dangerous that this store is just down the road from me! As I was looking, I came upon this little wreath with lemons on it as well as these faux lambs’ ear floral pieces and I just loved the idea of combining the two! With a little hot glue, ribbon and about 20 minutes of my time, I just love the transformation!!
Materials:
Hot glue gun – This is my favorite: https://amzn.to/4bl6bYn
Mini glue Sticks: https://amzn.to/48ilcrn
Burlap Ribbon: My go to: https://amzn.to/3STOKXT
Small floral wreath from Dollar General Store
Faux Lambs Ear – 2 Stems from Dollar General Store
Side Cuts: I use these! https://amzn.to/4bnMRK0
Wire Cutters: https://amzn.to/3Sn9JAJ
To start off, using my sidecuts I simply trimmed off pieces of the lamb’s ear from the two stems I had purchased, and then I also trimmed off some of the greenery on the wreath that I wasn’t looking to keep, and to make room for the lamb’s ear pieces I wanted to add in. Next, I place the lamb’s ear I had set aside and tuck it into various spots around my wreath, note, I am not hot glueing these pieces yet, just placing them to see where I would like to place them! I like to just work and rearrange pieces until I am happy with the overall aesthetic of the wreath. Next, I attached the pieces with hot glue as needed, and decided to finish with a burlap bow to hang the wreath. Overall, a very simple, inexpensive update for a spring wreath!! I can’t wait to hang this on our front door! Let me know your thoughts! Happy crafting!
