Elevating the elegance of a craft store wreath!!

I don’t know about you, but I love the look and smell of a fresh wreath during the winter season! Around here, fresh cedar wreaths can be quite expensive, and if you opt for high-quality faux wreaths, the cost can skyrocket even further. I have several spots around my home I’m looking to adorn with wreaths this year, so I decided to get creative and come up with an arrangement of wreaths using faux cedar greenery sprigs from Hobby Lobby and a $3 wreath from JoAnn’s. With my hot glue gun and a pair of side clips, this turned out to be a cost-effective endeavor, that turned out beautiful!! I love how you can add as much or little of the cedar greens to make it as full as you would like. In addition to that, you could easily add in clippings of boxwood or rosemary for texture and adorn with berries, or ribbon. I was able to put this wreath together in about 30 minutes, take a look below for to see this wreaths transformation!!

The wired branches on the craft wreath merely require a bit of adjustment, rearranging, and fluffing to achieve a fuller appearance. I divided the cedar sprigs from hobby lobby and simply used my side cuts to clip off the sprigs into more manageable pieces. To begin, I tucked in a clipping by inserting its stem into the center of the wreath, just to be sure this was where I wanted to start, once happy with initial placement, I took it out, added my hot glue and placed it, allowing it to catch onto the wire branches and the glue to dry. I love that there is no need for floral wire! I continued with the cedar sprigs and arranged the branches in a counter-clockwise direction, starting from the bottom left and working my way up and around. This technique ensures that the tips of each clipping overlap the previous one, resulting in a visually appealing arrangement. Continue cutting, add a drop of hot glue and placing your pieces until you have gone all around your wreath, and you are happy with the overall look! I do suggest hanging it up once you initially finish, just to see if you missed any spots that may not have been visible while you were working on the wreath lying flat.

Halfway done, as seen above!!

All done!! Isn’t this just the prettiest, simple wreath?!?

As I mentioned above, for added texture, you could also incorporate small clusters of boxwood or rosemary, both are lovely choices. I chose to add a simple set of gold bells I had on hand to my wreath! I love the simplicity of it. If you desire a touch of sparkle, look into sets of battery-operated fairy lights (you can find them here: 90ct Extended Led Fairy Lights – Room Essentials™ : Target ) and wrap them around the wreath. I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this wreath! To hang them, I utilize command hooks, which provide a convenient and secure solution. I can’t wait to make the rest of mine!!

I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial on transforming a craft store wreath into something fancy!!
