Adding interest with florals & greenery to your home decor

I always look forward to the changing of the seasons. Even though Fall is my favorite time of year, I appreciate each season as it comes and goes. There truly is beauty in every season. As we embrace the changing seasons, florals offer a unique way to bring nature’s beauty indoors. From greenery to dried florals, there are many tones and textures that can add a touch of warmth and nostalgia to any space, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

There are many ways to incorporate florals, but let’s talk about what may hold the greenery and flowers.

  • Crocks
  • Pitchers
  • Baskets
  • Bowls – wooden, ironstone, metal..lots of options here!
  • Jars – Blue Mason are a personal favorite!
  • Lanterns
  • Small, unique wooden boxes
  • Old bottles

These items can be found while browsing a flea market, or thrift store, or perhaps a garage sale. Maybe you have a family heirloom you would like to showcase or found a brand-new piece on sale! Whatever the vessel, it’s easy to make a statement with a simple arrangement.

Crocks and bowls

These items typically work well when you have a larger space to fill. If you’re looking to make a statement, use an oversized off-white bowl, such as a piece of ironstone and fill it with brightly colored hydrangeas, displaying it on a coffee or dining table. For early spring, I also like to add spring flowers such as tulips or flowering branches to my crocks and display them by our front door.

Blue Mason Jars

If I had to pick a favorite method for displaying greenery and flowers, it would be a few vintage blue mason jars grouped together. These jars can be acquired many ways, I often pick them up at thrift stores and garage sales. The blue hue from these jars is perfect all seasons. I find myself mixing these jars in with various decor all year long. Whether they are displaying simple greenery and flowers during the warmer months, or maybe a simple fall arrangement in the fall, I love the vintage farmhouse feel these jars lend. At Christmas, using these jars to display red berries and greenery amongst a winter scene with candles, is breathtaking!

I have always felt these jars are the simplest way to make a statement and I just love that there’s no “arranging” that has to take place! If using fresh flowers, simply just cut your flowers so they are the same length and place them in a jar filled with water. Takes nothing but a few seconds and creates not only a beautiful centerpiece, but a simply charming & pleasing design.
