5 Tips for styling the perfect vignette in your home.

I hope this post finds you well and in high spirits. Today, I am here to discuss the art of vignettes. Yes, my friends, vignettes. I have compiled five valuable tips for creating a farmhouse-style vignette, and I am thrilled to share them with you. But before we delve into that, you may be wondering, what exactly is a vignette? Nevertheless, a vignette is simply a fancy term for a small arrangement of decor, typically found on a coffee table or shelf, and sometimes even at the center of a dining table. The fundamental idea is to gather a handful of items and arrange them in a cohesive manner. Sounds straightforward enough, but it can be a bit challenging to find the perfect combination of items. However, fear not, for I have a few tips that will make the entire process of styling a vignette a breeze!

Begin with a Tray

The first step in any vignette I create is to start with a tray or some form of base. The possibilities are endless, so let your creativity run wild. The key is to establish a foundation from which to build upon. Think of the tray as a boundary that defines the vignette and brings everything together. I have discovered that without a tray or base, I struggle to achieve a cohesive look.

Incorporate Old Books

When selecting items for your vignette, be sure to include a few old books. I incorporate old books into every one of my vignettes. Regardless of what else I include you can be certain that there will be old books. Not only do they add texture and vintage charm, but they also serve as a means to vary the height of the items.

Add Greenery or Flowers

After gathering a few old books, I always make it a point to include some greenery or flowers. It doesn’t take much to make an impact, but it certainly adds a touch of vibrancy to the overall aesthetic. And a touch of vibrancy is always a good thing.

Vary the Height of Items

This particular tip can be a bit tricky, but it is crucial to ensure that the items in your vignette vary in height. However, they should still be close enough in height to create a harmonious composition and be appealing to the eye.

Maintain a Consistent Color Scheme

As with any form of decoration, it is essential to maintain a consistent color scheme throughout your vignette to achieve a cohesive and visually pleasing result. Personally, I am drawn to the farmhouse aesthetic, so I tend to avoid incorporating vibrant colors into my decor. However, if those colors resonate with you, by all means, embrace them. Just strive to blend the colors in a manner that are harmonious.

And there you have it, my top tips for creating a simple farmhouse-style vignette. I hope you find these helpful!
